Go here for Requiem 1.8.6 ->
http://thepiratebay.ee/torrent/4775230

Compatible with both Windows and Mac!

Requiem is an open source program that will strip the DRM from your iTunes music and video files. While people have found other ways around the DRM, such as burning their music and ripping it, that will lose sound quality. That's where this program comes in - it not only removes the DRM from music AND videos, it does so losslessly.

All purchased video files [excluding rentals, sorry] NOW work - even with the older videos! You must be running iTunes version 7.6.2 to 7.7.1 and be authorized to play the content you want decrypted.

You'll need to install Java (http://www.java.com/getjava/) if you want to use the the Java GUI that is included that can be used on both Windows and Mac platforms. Just double click on the Requiem.jar file and the GUI will come up.
(However, for Mac users, I would recommend the RequiemDroplet.app because it is easier to use because of the Drag & Drop feature.)
=================================================================================

Three last notes to end on:

1. Do NOT share your de-DRM'd iTunes purchases on a file-sharing network. Why? Apple has personal information in your purchased content. Requiem does not remove the personal information from your files. Your identity is at stake and Apple could ban your account (at the very least) if caught. (I, OompahLoompah108, have no control of this feature in Requiem, I am just the uploader, not the developer.)

2. I need to thank legodude83089 from Demonoid for initially distributing these files. I'm just putting them up here at TPB because it's more popular and registering is not required for downloading. You can find the same version here: www. demonoid .com /files/details/1529257/

And of course, I should thank Brahms, the creator of Requiem.

3. Please obey the Golden Rule of File-Sharing, "Share with others, as you would want others to share with you." Okay, I made up that quote - but please, share as long as you can, even a week is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Cheers! :)

Comments

Please seed ? it's stupid to be blocked at 99,5Kb for a 387,5Kb file ?
Pihrra, while it seems like one or two are always in leeching status, several people have been seeding.

If you are still having problems, you can get the same file at Demonoid
Reqiuem är ju bara skit :S den kan inte ens ta bort DRM skyddet från en Wma fil...
@Zedahzih,
You know it's interesting, the only comments I get are complaints.

Requiem wasn't designed for WMA's - it's a great program for those who purchase from iTunes. If you don't like the fact you can't decrypt WMA's, then don't complain about it here because that's not applicable to Apple's Fairplay.

If there are technical issues people are having problems with decrypting, then feel free to discuss here.
According to other reports, and personal experience, this version of Requiem works with iTunes 7.7 :)

Cheers!
Thx for the download, this is the first time I have used Requiem. Unfortunately it either dosen't work or I'm a dumbass. A box pops up that says Finished! Could not convert file C://.....directory. I have Java, what could be wrong?
There are a couple of possible reasons I would know:

1. Is your iTunes 7.6 or 7.7? If it's a lower version, then update it.
2. Make sure iTunes is authorized to play the file. (Sometimes, you might need to re-authorize your computer, even though iTunes can play it.)

Also, the files which are successfully decrypted in .m4a format (vs .m4p) are shown in the current directory of the protected file.

Thanks for your interest. If you continue having problems, please post it and maybe someone else might help.

Cheers! :)
Check out this torrent for at stand alone Mac front end:

(Requiem download not needed)
@dacobi,
Thanks for the tip! It's a great concept to have a stand-alone app. Unfortunately, it does not work on Tiger. If the developer (you perhaps?) knows code to make it Universal, maybe it could be more compatible.

In the meantime, both Windows and (all) Mac platforms can use Requiem 1.7.3.

Cheers!
The thanks actually goes to Brahms for creating it. I didn't even get it from where Brahms distributes it, but instead from Demonoid.

I just uploaded it here, since this place is the most prominent tracker, and registration isn't required to download here. I'm glad you like it.

Cheers! :)
UPDATE! It is confirmed that iTunes 7.7.1 *works* with this version of Requiem. I highly recommend the new version of iTunes to people who own iPods, since the previous version of iTunes (7.7) takes a while to sync to the variety of the iPod line.

Cheers!
Many many thanks for this. Stripping all that DRM feels so nice.
is anyone else getting a Java error?
stupid thing keeps saying " could not find main class".

My Java is up to date....

when I tried to google my problem.. everyone was speaking in "code".. XD

keep it simple folks.
Does anyone have any idea why it wouldn't work on my files? They're audiobooks and they're about 2.5 hrs long .m4b's. (Never seen that before; b=book?)
@macthemikey,

Requiem does not convert m4b files, it converts m4p files.

* However* if you change the extension from m4b to m4p, then you can run it with Requiem.

After that, if you want the special features of the audiobook of bookmarking where you last listened, you could change the extension back to m4b. Once you change it, the icon will show it as a protected file (the lock would appear), iTunes will say it's a protected aac file in the summary under "Get Info," but it will NOT have DRM despite what it says because it will work without your computer being authorized.

I hope that helps.

Cheers! :)
If you are having problems where it simply won't decrypt the files (using the GUI or windows command line), the solution is pretty simple. Please note that this involves editing the registry, so procede with caution. This is taken from the hymn-project.org forums:

The issue you may be getting with the gui is where it will say "Decryption complete. The following files could not be decrypted: ..." and it lists all your files.... OR.... if you use the command line version (decrypt.exe) to convert just 1 file, it will say "ERROR: bad decrypt of sidb"

Here is what you need to do to solve this issue on Windows XP (the directions might vary depending upon the OS):

1) Navigate to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info" and open the file called SC Info.txt
2) Copy the number in this file that looks like: #####-###-#######-#####
3) Open the registry editor (start, run, type regedit, click ok)
4) Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion"
5) Double click on "ProductID" on the right hand side, and replace the "Value Data" with the number you copied from the sc info.txt file. They look similar at a glance, but they are not if you really compare them. Make sure to remove any extra spaces on the end.
6) After you have changed this registry entry, it should decrypt just fine without any errors. Enjoy :)

If it doesn't decrypt, or you cant find sc info.txt, or any if you get any other issues.. make sure you have authorized your computer within itunes itself. The folder that contains sc info.txt will vary depending upon your operating system. If you need help, see this thread for tips: http://hymn-project.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2494
@menthar56,

Thanks for the helpful info. While Requiem is a great program for many iTunes customers, technical problems are inevitable, especially when it deals with Windows end-users. (I'm not attacking Windows - it's a great OS - but there seems to be less issues with the Mac for this version of Requiem.)

I hope this information is helpful to other people who deal with this issue.

Cheers! :D
if I downloaded some TV when I had 8.0.2 installed.....is there any way to remove the DRM to play on my WD HD TV Media Player?
